Today is the 1st Sunday in Advent, and at our worship service this morning we lit one candle on our Advent Wreath. We also thought about hope from the perspective of Mary, whose visit from an angel set God’s plan in motion. For the next week, we will be reminded again and again that in Jesus’ birth, “the hopes and fears of all the years” were met and dealt with.
Advent is a season of preparation and hope–thinking about what God did in Bethlehem, and what God will do at the end of time, and what God continues to do daily in our hearts and lives. This is a season of remembering how God keeps his promises and how faithful he is to us. During this week, think of your hopes, think of God’s hopes for you, and think of how God is working in your life.
Have a great week! Gene Feagin, Pastor
