Several people noted how happy having the Church (the Body of Christ) united for worship and praise would have made Jesus. I know that all of us who attended were reminded of our common identity as the people of Christ. Then, on Easter Sunday, we were blessed to be able to worship a Risen Savior, after having been reminded of his life, and death during our Holy Week services. Several people asked me if I wasn’t glad that Holy Week was over and I have to tell you that the week after Holy Week is a sort of let down in some ways because we have grown so accustomed to noon worship and then a common meal with brothers and sisters in Christ.
I want to remind you of something, though: Easter is just beginning. The season of Easter runs from Easter Sunday through Pentecost Sunday–50 days. But, every Sunday is a “mini-Easter,” where we proclaim the resurrection and the power of God over everything. One of the hymns reminds us that “Every day to us is Easter,” since we are the people of the Risen Christ.
Let’s continue to live as people of of the Resurrection–knowing that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of Christ.
